What Does SIL Funding Include?

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is a paid support service that assists with personal tasks such as getting dressed, cooking meals, and other daily activities. It also focuses on teaching skills to promote independence in your home, whether you live alone or in a shared home with others.

SIL funding covers the cost of support workers who assist with daily tasks but does not cover expenses like rent or groceries. This funding is most suitable for individuals needing significant help throughout the day and is included in your NDIS plan based on your support needs.

Who is Eligible To Receive SIL Support?

Eligibility for receiving Supported Independent Living (SIL) support is based on several factors, including:

• High support needs Individuals with significant support requirements throughout the day.

• Permanent disabilities: Long-term and permanent disabilities.

• NDIS participation: Participating in the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

• Individual circumstances: Age, goals, preferences, and level of independence.

• Capacity building: Need for support to develop living skills and enhance capacity for independent living.

• Home modifications and assistive technology: Necessary modifications or devices for independent living.

• Safety considerations: Information from healthcare professionals and service providers regarding safety and any reports and assessments.
